‘Life sometimes gives you lemons, when it does make lemonade’
A great quote told to me by a great friend when I had to return home not because I wanted to but because I had to due to injury. She’s right, when life presents you with obstacles or forces you to return home or to do something you don’t want to do there’s always a reason, whether the reason is clear at the time or not.
I’m a big believer in fate, things have happened in my life that have changed everything-I have sent emails in which the replies have turned my life upside down and applied to jobs which have allowed me to travel the world on a number of occasions. I have met incredible people who have positively influenced my life and shaped me into the person I am today, to them I am forever grateful.
The world is a strange place, there is large variation on the same human form and many different interpretations of the same common things. Everyone’s philosophy is the same, study from a young age to achieve great things, get a job that you may work for the next 40 years, get married and have children. Everyone in the world has this philosophy, but everyone interprets it differently, whether it be through different jobs, different interests or different desires. People’s choices define them. Choices you make in high school (which clique you should join, did the dog actually eat your homework?), college choices, subject choices at University, partner choices and friend choices all define who you are as a person today.
As a child your parents shape you more than you ever dream to realise, your hometown shapes you, your hobbies define you and your friends influence you.
People often make bad choices which end up defining them for the rest of their lives.
Everyone has different desires and dreams which make them unique, some people struggle to find these dreams and desires, others take slow steps towards their end goals, others reach their dreams and realise it’s not what they truly desire. Some achieve what they thought their heart desired and realise it isn’t enough.
No one has time to be unhappy. Whether it’s due to a relationship, job, place or situation there’s always a way out. No one should settle and let their desires and dreams slip away, everyone has the chance to be great and achieve their dreams.
Whether or not people believe it, I believe everyone has a path to greatness already in place and it’s our job to find the path and stay on it. Many fall, others choose to step off, some never find their path and others choose not to look for it. The ones who stay on it are those who achieve their dreams and desires. People do get too focused on achieving that they forget about the journey, journeys are great, and allow you to cross paths with others.
Choices and fate combined have got you where you are today, the choices you have made up until now are still within you and the choices you make in the future are up to fate. You never know what the future may hold, no one can predict it, so stop worrying about it and enjoy it ’cause it’s one hell of a ride that you only get to do once.

Hey Anny, so it’s 1am, I can’t sleep, I log in to Twitter and see your tweet about this post. I read this post and then re read it and I now know why I can’t sleep, it’s because my mind is filled with longing, with desire to travel, to be spontaneous and to make new decisions. I made big, life changing decisions in 2016, but I want to make even bigger ones in 2017. Thank you for inspiring me at silly o clock in the morning, I feel that I was meant to not sleep tonight and that I was meant to read your post!! Jess x
